Our support for the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples
"The discovery of the remains of hundreds of children at Indian Residential Schools across Canada should shock and has shocked the conscience of our nation. We at YSMM are of one voice when we ask the government to meaningfully implement the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act, as well as the Calls to Action of the country’s own Truth and Reconciliation Commission."

For over a decade, the implementation of the Declaration by the Government of Canada has been a core program of Canadian Friends Service Committee, our national service arm. The UN General Assembly adopted the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in 2007.
